2017 was a great year for Conservatives and the United States alike. Neil Gorsuch was confirmed to the Supreme Court, the Stock Market hit record highs, $8.1 billion worth of regulations were removed, and Hillary Clinton is not President of the United States.
If wins such as these are going to continue for Conservatives, they must look towards the future.
These Conservatives are the future.
1. Ben Shapiro
Ben Shapiro is possibly one of the most surprising conservatives to exist. Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Shapiro attended UCLA when he was 16 years old, and then went on to attend Harvard Law School.
Shapiro became a nationally syndicated columnist when he was just 17 years old, has written 7 books including the New York Times bestseller “Bullies: How the Left’s Culture of Fear and Intimidation Silences America”, worked under Andrew Breitbart at Breitbart News, and currently is the Editor-in-Chief of the Daily Wire which possesses a growing base of millions of subscribers.
If you have not yet heard of Ben Shapiro, now is the time to start listening to or reading his work. Shapiro has a daily podcast, “The Ben Shapiro Show”, and can be found on iTunes, SoundCloud, and the Daily Wire website. Shapiro also posts articles almost every day for The Daily Wire.
2. Matt Walsh
Matt Walsh is a blogger, a former writer for TheBlaze, and a current writer for The Daily Wire. In March 2017, Walsh released his book “The Unholy Trinity: Blocking the Left’s Assault on Life, Marriage, and Gender” which has been praised by many, such as Ben Shapiro and Glenn Beck. It is a necessary read for anyone who calls themselves a conservative.
Walsh is by no means an intellectual, as he never attended college, but he has a knack for articulating truth and a special talent for satire. All of his satirical and informational content can be found on his Facebook page which has over 600,000 followers. Walsh’s work provides life advice and conservative thoughts stemming from his devout Catholic faith.
3. Charlie Kirk
Charlie Kirk is the founder of Turning Point USA, a non-profit that advocates for free markets and limited government. The organization recently held a Student Action Summit which was attended by over 3000 young conservatives aged 15-25 from all 50 states. The event also featured speakers such as Donald Trump Jr, Dennis Prager, Dave Rubin, and the aforementioned Ben Shapiro.
As one of these young conservatives in attendance, I can confidently say that, even though he is just 24 years old, Charlie Kirk is leading an organization that is affecting change on campuses at a blistering speed.
Kirk has a personal relationship with the first family and a fiery passion burning inside of him, which makes him poised to bring thousands if not millions of young people to conservatism.
4. Dennis Prager
Dennis Prager is a radio talk show host in Los Angeles as well as the founder of Prager University. PragerU releases informational videos that are on average about 5 minutes long on topics such as Global Warming, the Ten Commandments, and self-esteem. These videos have featured every person on this list, and other people such as Mike Rowe, Christina Sommers, and Dinesh D’Souza.
Through these short and informative videos as well as his college talks, Prager is informing people young and old about all of the major and contentious issues, arming them for debate. Having recently hit 1 billion views, PragerU will continue to inform people young and old. Through their PragerFORCE student ambassador program, the organization is also is helping young people with opportunities to gain experience in writing, outreach, digital marketing, and video production.
Dennis Prager has been a conservative icon for many years, and he will continue to be for many years to come.
5. Steven Crowder
In 2017, Steven Crowder’s YouTube channel with his show “Louder with Crowder” reached 1 million subscribers and counting. Crowder is also part of CRTV, a conservative group led by Mark Levin, which provides television free of liberal bias.
Steven Crowder provides a refreshing dose of conservative comedy but also can be serious in his “Change My Mind” videos in which he has open discussions with college students on topics such as gun control and abortion.
Crowder’s website also sells t-shirts with slogans such as “I’m Pro-Gun, Change My Mind” in order to encourage others to have discussions and to find common ground.
Watch for even more expansion in this next year, as the Louder with Crowder show is hitting the road at college campuses nationwide. Crowder, along with his producer “Not Gay Jared” have done a great job at providing their viewers with information and their sources, much of which I have used in discussions with others, and they will continue to do so in the next year.
The conservative movement is continuously growing, with prominent voices emerging every day. It will certainly be interesting to see what new up-and-comers 2018 brings.
